Short description

Win32/Spy.Agent.ORM is a trojan which tries to download other malware from the Internet.


When executed, the trojan copies itself into the following location:

  • %userprofile%\­­Start Menu\­­Programs\­­Startup\­­%variable%.exe

A string with variable content is used instead of %variable%.exe .

This causes the trojan to be executed on every system start.

The trojan creates and runs a new thread with its own program code within the following processes:

  • svchost.exe
Information stealing

The trojan collects the following information:

  • screenshots
  • list of running processes
  • operating system version
  • user name
  • computer name
  • CPU information

The trojan attempts to send gathered information to a remote machine.

Other information

The trojan receives data and instructions for further action from the Internet or another remote computer within its own network (botnet).

The trojan contains a URL address. The HTTP protocol is used in the communication.

It can execute the following operations:

  • download files from a remote computer and/or the Internet
  • run executable files
  • update itself to a newer version
  • uninstall itself
  • send the list of running processes to a remote computer
  • capture screenshots
