Short description

Win32/LockScreen.ASZ is a trojan that blocks access to the Windows operating system.

Installation

When executed, the trojan copies itself into the following location:

  • %windir%\­winlogon.exe

In order to be executed on every system start, the trojan sets the following Registry entries:

  • [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\­SOFTWARE\­Microsoft\­Windows NT\­CurrentVersion\­Winlogon]
    • "Shell"= "%windir%\­winlogon.exe"

The trojan may delete the following Registry entries:

  • [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\­SYSTEM\­CurrentControlSet\­Control\­SafeBoot\­Minimal]
  • [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\­SYSTEM\­CurrentControlSet\­Control\­SafeBoot\­Network]

The following Registry entries are created:

  • [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\­SOFTWARE\­MrDos212\­Winlocker]
  • [HKEY_CURRENT_USER\­Software\­Microsoft\­Windows\­CurrentVersion\­Policies\­System]
    • "DisableTaskMgr" = 1
    • "DisableRegistryTools" = 1
    • "DisableCMD" = 1
    • "EnableLUA" = 0

Win32/LockScreen.ASZ is a trojan that blocks access to the Windows operating system.


The trojan displays the following dialog box:

To regain access to the operating system the user is requested to comply with given conditions in exchange for a password/instructions.


The password to regain access to the operating system is one of the following:

  • 358268033303653

When the correct password is entered the trojan removes itself from the computer.


The trojan may terminate specific running processes.


The trojan blocks keyboard and mouse input.
