Win32/Filecoder.MaktubLocker.A is a trojan that encrypts files on fixed and network drives. To decrypt files the user is requested to comply with given conditions in exchange for a password/instructions.

Installation

The trojan does not create any copies of itself.


The trojan creates the following files:

  • %temp%\­%variable1%.cab (1211 B)
  • %temp%\­%malwarefilename%.rtf (2162 B)
  • %temp%\­%variable2%.gif (3994)

A string with variable content is used instead of %variable1-2% .


The trojan executes the following files:

  • %temp%\­%malwarefilename%.rtf (2162 B)

The trojan encrypts the file content.


The name of the encrypted file is changed to:

  • %originalfilename%.%variable%

The following file is dropped into the %currentfolder%, %desktop%, %commondesktop% folder:

  • _DECRYPT_INFO_%variable%.html

A string with variable content is used instead of %variable% .


To decrypt files the user is requested to comply with given conditions in exchange for a password/instructions.
